The leather is good quality, the construction has been done very professionally. The welt works (although it does leak a bit at the point where the two ends meet just in front of the heel). They look good and are comfortable. Be advised that the smooth soles on these do not offer the best grip on wet/slippery surfaces.

Two negatives: 1: the insole is non-existent. It is hard and does not offer much cushoning. I advise wearing thick boot socks or walking/hiking socks with these. 2: The rubber layer on the heel wears down a bit to fast for me. Perhaps it’s partially due to my walking style, but on the left boot the edge has already worn down almost to the leather.

Overall, I would say that they ARE worth the money.

Sizing advice offered on the site appears to be accurate. I measured my feet with medium thick boot socks on, which came to exactly 26.5cm. I chose the first size above that, so size 8 (27cm). They fit well. I can wear them in summer with thin socks, and in winter with thick socks without feeling cramped or feeling like I’m swimming in room.

Truly works of art and very beautiful. After only a few days, they’re already moulding to the shape of my feet. And they’re already very comfortable. I predict that my new B&S boots and I are going to have a very long and very close relationship in the future!

I’ve my new natural pair of boots Butt&Shoulders ready for walking around my house, (or perfect time to adapt them to my feet), while the COVID-19 had continued… when this period has finished, the streets will be ours!
    Best wishes

    Very nice boots indeed

I just have ‘m for a bit over a week now and they are darker already but still have far more to go😊
All and all walks like a pair of neat shoes mounted with leather soles.
I know from experience that resoling cost around 100 to 150 euros over here in The Netherlands (properly), but after that they should be good as new with the required patina👍🏼.
P.s The new soles have a full anti-slip bottom. Not as on the web pics

Wat een heerlijke schoen. Direct vanuit de doos voelen ze alsof ik ze al maanden draag. Schitterend materiaal en prachtig afgewerkt. Ga ze met veel plezier een mooi patina geven.

This is the second pair of boots I’ve purchased from B&S. in both cases they’ve exceeded expectations. As beautiful as they look in the pictures, they’re 1000x nicer! Love them!!

as most of you can guess im a bootsaddict. if you love natural leather and boots you cant ignore this.
i ordered a pair and everything since ordering till delivery worked out save and sound.
    fitting is true to size.
the leather is stiff at the beginning and breaking in is a tad slow.
but the best thing with time and passion is the growing patina.

    i love this boots

Absolutely in love with my boots. I have been wearing them non-stop since my purchase about a month ago. I can already see a nice patina forming. This is also the main reason I went for the natural boots. In the end they will tell my story, an accumulation of all my adventures. Additionally I purchased the wax kit which makes it feel a lot more like a lifestyle and I have been brushing ritualistically since. Can’t wait to see what the boots will look like in a month!

Thanks Thomas! Curious about those brushing rituals 🙂 Cheers!

After almost 8 months of constant wear my boots I have a very nice patina. The thickness of the leather is just perfect to give a sturdy feel without causing any pain, but keep their shape.
The Stichting is still 100% and the shoes ar well worth the money! Next week I’ll bring them to the cobbler to get the heels renewed, sure they will serve me for some more months to come!

    • Butts and Shoulders (store manager)

Thanks for the kind words Jeroen. Keep us posted about the work of your cobbler. Always curious for the results.

Size: Same sizing compare to Red Wing heritage boots.
Comfort: 7.5/10 (leather is hard and “dry” but not to the point that is uncomfortable … I guess it takes time to break in). Workmanship/Quality Control: 7.5/10 (the stitching is neat. I could have given an 8 if not for the nails not properly hammered in on the outsole. On many occasions, I almost slipped and fall. A potential torn ACL waiting to happen). Putting it on & removing it: 7.5/10
Packaging/box: 8/10 (if it matters to you). The design of the box is plain but in the box, it includes an additional laces (a darker laces to match the patina), a nice shoe bag, a key chain and a personal message. – a nice touch.
What I Like: The clean look of the boots. The overall shape of the boots. The stages of patina over time (I look forward to that). The 360 degree “Goodyear Welted” stitching.
    Overall: 7.5/10
Extra notes: This pair is “very light” (approx. 1.3kg) compared to all the boots I owned so far. This is likely due to the combination of outsole material used and thickness, lack of steel shank and non full lining.

Thanks Benedict, for your extensive review. This will help others with their choice. Glad you like the lightness. For the hard en ‘dry’ feel, we recommend using our bee-wax or any other good wax. Concerning the nails, we have adjusted this in the production already.

Me and my B&S natural boots, a beautiful relationship.
Every week/month they get darker, richer, they really live.
These boots are made for walking.

I am a real bootenthusiast ( ) and boot addict. Several month ago I stumbled over the Butts and Shoulder boots. It was quite tempting to add an vegtanned boot to my collection, so I didn’t hesitate to order them.
Once the package arrived, I immediately opened it. I was surprised how light but sturdy the boots were. Much lighter than all other boots of my collection. This feature I love the most now because I live in Taiwan in a very hot climate, and so the boots can be easily worn in summer here. Combine them with a selvedge denim shirt to have a stunning outfit.
The stitching of the boot is flawless as well as the overall craftsmanship. The leather/rubber sole combines the speak and low profile of leather soles and the grip sn durability of rubber soles.
The hidden eyelets make this boot very versatile. You can easily dress it up or down.
And the best feature is the vegtanned leather. It will develop a beautiful patina and will please you with all different kinds of shades during the ageing process, and you will create your very personal unique boot by wearing them yourself.
